Initial Thoughts

Ciao from Chile!
[Disclaimer: I wrote this the first night but I couldn't share the blog before so I made a new one]

I'm not sure whether that's supposed to be Ciao or Chow but whatever it's how I say hi and bye here. I've been in Santiago for about 11 hours now and the first thing I thought when pulling into the Arturo Benitez airport was wowww this is the darkest city I've ever been to. My flight was amazing, no real turbulence or maybe I'm becoming insensitive to the planes little trembles (I'M BECOMING A REAL TRAVELER!). [Disclaimer: I am tired this blog is literally going to be a collection of all the thoughts I've had today, Beware...it'll get random] I highly recommend LAN air, although I was sad that the tripulacion wouldn't speak to me in Spanish, the flight was smooth, the food was good, and the lights were purple. Cool trip.
I got to the airport and spent about an hour waiting for my luggage because there was also a skiing team on my flight and they had to get all their sh*t, I mean stuff....but literally waiting for an hour, standing, after spending 10 hours sitting and a total of 17 hours traveling wasn't ideal but leaving I was just happy to have both of my bags. Since then I've been speaking in Spanish and I'm not being facetious when I say I feel I've improved. Improvement?? After one day? Well...Yea. Si po. My main problem with Spanish is that I get nervous and hesitate when speaking and then I make simple mistakes. Albeit I have still made mistakes today my host mom has been very helpful and supportive and she makes me feel less nervous. So improvement.
Speaking of my host mom her name is Pilar, when I arrived the first thing she did was hug and say "Hola Aja, Ahhh que bonita!" [ Oliver she pronounced my name right if you're reading this] which...made me feel pretty lmao, but it did. Everyone has been nice. I met her son Gianluca, he's super cool. The house is small. No pictures yet. I'm pretty sure I've seen beds bigger than my room, but it's cozy and looking around it doesn't seem like big houses are a thing. Leaving the airport we passed an area, I don't want to call a slum, but the houses seemed to be subpar. This house is nice in comparison, I will not complain. I got my adapters to work. It's cold in the morning but it gets better. I'm glad I brought socks [ and listened to my mom for once]
I'll write more later, but things are happening now and I wanna be a part of it.

Ciao Pecao (spelled like that on purpose),
                                                                      Aja
